Here's a little bit about me before we chat.
I've been married to my wife, Janis, for nearly 25 years now.
We're both self-employed. Janis creates unique jewelry, stationery and crafts. Me? I'm a freelance construction copywriter here at My Construction Copywriter (aka MCC). When I'm not working, I'm either kicking around the Rockies in our back yard or I'm working on another woodworking project out in my shop
Our "Brady Bunch" family consists of 6 grown "kids" who have blessed us with 6 grandchildren we try to spoil whenever they come around to visit. (Only two of them are young enough to feed loads of sugar, then send them home to Mom and Dad. Being a grandparent can be so deliciously satisfying!)
I spent almost 40 years in the construction industry. I started that career as an apprentice carpenter in 1972. I ended it in 2008 as a V.P. of Construction for a Denver-based home developer.
My youthful goal had always been to become a freelance writer. Having learned all I could in college about writing and marketing, I jumped on board as a stringer for a regional newspaper. Shortly after, we were happily surprised to find "we" were with child. A more substantial and consistent form of income led me to construction, where I spent the majority of my life.
I'd done quite a bit of marketing for the companies I worked with. When the housing bust of 2008 came along I decided to make an exit from the business once and for all.
I joined the marketing industry's premier association for training copywriters, Associated Writers & Artists, Inc, (aka AWAI) and have become AWAI verified as a direct-response copywriter, an editorial/content copywriter, and an online web advertisement copywriter. I have also completed training for SEO, content, email, white paper, case study, and online copywriting.
21st Century marketing continues to change and evolve, making this an exciting industry. And as MMC construction methods become more prevalent in the U.S., construction copywriters like me, who have had first hand experience in the industry, are a rare breed.
I love what I do, and I love working with those who are in an industry I dedicated so much of my life to.
